George E. Abbas Sr., 89, of Littleton, passed away on May 18, 2016 after a brief illness.

He was born October 28, 1926 in Kanawah, Iowa, the son of Ed and Gertie (Katuin) Abbas.

He was a graduate of Rowan High School in Rowan, Iowa in 1944. He attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois and Northwestern Schools in Minneapolis, Minnesota, from which he graduated with his Bachelors Degree in Biblical Studies in 1949.

On February 11, 1950, he married Mary Levin.

George was a Pastor for many years, his first church being in Holmes, Iowa in 1949. He served 12 churches over many years in Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, Wyoming and Colorado. He finished his career as the Associate Pastor of Columbine Baptist Church. Father and son, George Sr. and George Jr., had the privilege of serving together for three years at Columbine Baptist Church.

George loved to write poetry. He had been a poet for many years and wrote between 300-400 poems a year. George was the published author of two poetry books, "Rhyme and Reason Animal Lessons" and "Reason and Rhyme for Christmas Time" and one devotional book, "Jump Starters."

George is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary Abbas; Two Sons, George E. (Kathleen) Abbas Jr. and Vincent (Char) Abbas; Two Grandchildren, Sarah (Ryan) Kelly and Robert (Jennifer) Abbas; four Great-Grandchildren, Autumn Kelly, Katelyn Kelly, Gillian Kelly and William Kelly; Two Brother-In-Laws, Maurice Bubeck, Thomas Ryan; Two Sisters, Marion Reinholdt and Audrey (Dale) Carlson; Brother, Robert (Nadine) Abbas; and Many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by Father, Ed Abbas, Mother, Gertie Abbas, Sister, Arlene Bubeck, Sister, LaVonne Ryan, Brother-In-Law, Marlowe Reinholdt.
