Margaret Theresa McIlvain (Margie), of Denver, Colorado, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, of congestive heart failure, at Collier Hospice, Wheat Ridge, Colorado.

Born in Denver on September 24, 1920, to Albert and Helen Marie (Rauwald) Hoelsken, she grew up in the Barnum neighborhood of north Denver, graduating from St. Joseph’s high school in 1938. She was married to Harold Lee McIlvain in Denver, on June 15, 1940. After living in Lakewood Colorado for over 20 years, the McIlvains built a home in Empire, (Clear Creek County), Colorado, where she lived for 36 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee, and granddaughter, Mollie McIlvain.

Margie maintained many varied interests throughout her life - she enjoyed watercolor painting, having organized and participated in the Clear Creek Watercolor Society for 10 years; was a library volunteer at the Georgetown Library; an avid bridge player; was ahead of her time in promoting healthy eating and lifestyles all her long life; and was a beloved and supportive aunt to her nieces and nephews. She was curious, adventurous, and optimistic, sharing her positive attitude to the very end of her life.

She is survived by her five children and ten of eleven grandchildren: Sharon Prengaman of Sparks, Nevada (Luke, Amanda, and Jeremy Prengaman); Greg and Barbara McIlvain (Mollie and Erin McIlvain) of Littleton, Colorado; Randy and Candice McIlvain (Ann Marie, Caitrin, and Virginia McIlvain) of Idaho Springs, Colorado; Mary Anne Dagli (Rushan, Kameron, and Devin Dagli) of Lakewood, Colorado; and Eileen McIlvain, of Niwot, Colorado. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, and a large and loving extended family.

A funeral Mass will take place at 11 am, on Saturday, June 11, 2016, celebrated by her nephew, Fr. Mark Hoelsken, SJ, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 1632 Colorado Blvd, Idaho Springs, Colorado, followed by reception at 1039 Colorado Blvd, Idaho Springs, Colorado, 80452.

There will be a Catholic Rosary service the preceding evening, Friday, June 10, at 7 pm at the Newcomer Funeral Home Chapel, 901 So. Sheridan Blvd, Lakewood, Colorado, 80226.
