1963 - 2016
Klaus "Nik" Buchholz, 52, of Aurora, passed away July 19, 2016.
Nik was born October 22, 1963 in Rockford, Illinois, the son of Klaus and Janet Buchholz. He was a graduate of Green Mountain High School. He then attended Colorado State University and received a degree in Microbiology with a minor focus in Chemistry. Nik loved science, the wonder of life, family, and friends. He married Linda Lewis, of Aurora, Colorado.
From a very early age, Nik developed a great love for animals and the outdoors. He always had a devoted dog and later, horses. As a family we often went camping and fishing. He moved to Colorado in 1973 and quickly became an excellent skier. After a severe skiing accident he took up hunting as his passion. Although he attended CSU's pre-vet program, he received his degree as a Microbiologist explaining his fascination by saying "I can look into a microscope and never see the same thing." Nik truly enjoyed his position at University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and the friendships he made there.
Nik is survived by his wife, Linda Lewis; parents, Klaus and Jan Buchholz; sister, Renee (Michael) Stewart; two nephews, Jacob and Matthew Stewart.
