Shirley Ada Hefton, 81, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2016. Shirley was the devoted wife of John "Jay" T. Hefton, who passed away December 16, 2016. They were married 63 years.

She was born Shirley Ada Minion to Wrae and Ada (Schmidt) Minion in Humboldt, Iowa. She married John T. "Jay" Hefton in Raton, New Mexico on December 28, 1953.

Shirley worked as a Telephone Operator, Pre-School Teacher, Cake Decorator as well as a 28 year volunteer working with children in Church Sunday School, Camp Fire Girls, Jobs Daughters and with School District #50 in Westminster, Colorado.

Shirley was a member of East Boulder Baptist Church, Loyalty Chapter #145, Order of Eastern Star, Adams County Lioness (Lions Club), Red Hat Society, Camp Fire Girls Group, the Humboldt, Iowa Genealogical Society, the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion and the Senior Faith and Fun Club of East Boulder Baptist Church.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Shari A.(Tim) Hibberd, sister, Sharon Ann Hanna, grandchildren, Paul Hibberd and Nicole Hibberd, great-grandchildren, Lauren Hibberd and Devon Hibberd, numerous nieces, nephews and many other family members and many friends. Preceded in death by her daughter Sheryl Hefton.

A memorial service for Shirley and Jay will be held at the East Boulder Baptist Church on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 10:30 am with lunch to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the East Boulder Baptist Church, Honor Flight of Denver or Northern Colorado, or International Hearing Dogs, Inc.
