Gwendolyn “Gwen” Louise Zimmerman, 77, of Aurora, passed away Friday February 3, 2017. From Post-Polio complications.

She was born in Denver on February 26, 1939. Gwen graduated from Cherry Creek High School. She married John “Tom” Zimmerman, her high school sweetheart, on Feb 27, 1960. Their 57th anniversary is this Monday.
Gwen is survived by her brother, Ron Bittick of El Cajon, CA; her 3 children: Rick (Darlene) Zimmerman of Surprise, AZ; Terry (Linda) Zimmerman of Longmont, CO; Donell (Gary) White, Aurora, CO. Foster daughter: Anita Durham of Littleton, CO. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Stephanie (Cisco) Gray-Luevano, Samuel Zimmerman, Zack Zimmerman, Tabitha Zimmerman, Marvin (Jenny) White, Jacob White Sr, Natasha White; and 8 great-grandchildren: Isaiah & Jazmine Gray, Arianna Luevano, Sebastian Zimmerman, Savannah Shumway, Jacob White Jr, Alexis & Xavier White. She is also survived by the many “adopted” children and grandchildren that have called her Mom/Grandma throughout the years.

Gwen volunteered as a Victim’s Advocate (formerly known as the PACT unit) with the Aurora Police Department. She would go when called to sit with victims and be a caring presence at a bad time. She also spent many Monday nights bowling on a league with friends.

She was an active member of Airport Blvd Baptist Church (AKA Sable Baptist before the name change) for 30 plus years. She taught 1st thru 3rd grade Sunday School, did registration and counseling for Vacation Bible School, was the church clerk for many years, very active with the Ladies Missionary Group, most recently helped teach Children’s Church, and always a Prayer Warrior.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in Gwen's memory to Post-Polio Health International 4207 Lindell Blvd., #110, Saint Louis, MO 63108.
