In Memory Of
Marlene Anita Gunder
1936 - 2017

Marlene Anita Gunder was born in the summer of 1936 in Grant, Nebraska. After moving to Colorado at a young age, she graduated from Wheatridge High School at the age of 16. Although her cheerleading career ended in high school, she never stopped cheering on everyone around her. Marlene was still on the planning committee for the yearly HS reunions, and 2016 was her 63rd HS class reunion!

She loved life abundantly, and when she married Bob Gunder in 1981, she moved to Limon. She and Bob owned a restaurant and renamed it the BoMar. They operated the BoMar for 25+ years before they retired.
Marlene lived with her daughter Lonna in Watkins, CO for the last couple of years after having lived in Limon, CO since 1981.

She went home to be with Jesus on February 11, 2017

Marlene is preceded in death by her husband Robert (Bob) Gunder, her parents, Gilbert and Eula Hankel, Harris and Shirley Gunder, Judah Christian (great grandson) and other family members.

Marlene is survived by her brothers Gale Hankel and Doug Hankel (Alma), her four children, Kelly Bacon (Lissa), Kina Palmer (Leon), Linda Bacon (Ronnie) and Lonna Rodriquez as well as Shawn Gunder (Tiffany), Kelly Gunder, Bob Gunder (Jennifer) and Kate Crompton (Mark) her four children that she was able to love as her own when she married Bob.

She loved and was loved by her 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren plus the 15 Gunder side grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Marlene and Bob began their marriage with eight kids and only three grandkids, but established quite the legacy. Marlene’s grandchildren describe this legacy as love, grace, putting others first, understanding what’s truly important and letting go of the rest, and never losing the inner child.

Celebration of Life will be March 4, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at Mountain View Fellowship Church located at Bennett High School 610 7th St, Bennett, CO 80102. A reception will follow and details will be announced at the service.
