Gladys P. Roush
1925 - 2017

Gladys P. Roush, 92, of Littleton, passed away May 23, 2017.

She was born May 23, 1925 in Elgin, Nebraska, the daughter of Joe and Lorena (Whitaker) Paul.

She graduated Valedictorian of her high school class and received her teaching certificate. She then taught in a one-room schoolhouse and lived with different families during that time.

On August 4, 1950, she married Robert C. Roush, who she met on a blind date.

Gladys was a fabulous seamstress, for example, she would make clothing for herself and her children. Gladys will be remembered as a true Renaissance woman: she made homemade yogurt before others knew what it was. She also enjoyed organic gardening. Gladys was very well-read about homeopathic remedies and nutritional therapy. She practiced upcycling. She took homemaking to an art form. Gladys was raised to be gracious and caring. She was very selfless and raised her children and grandchildren to be the same. Gladys never knew a stranger. She was also a lifelong learner.

Gladys is survived by three daughters, Kathleen D. (Gene) Willenbrecht, Terry L. Roush and Nancy L. (Scott) Candler; Four Grandchildren, Karen Willenbrecht, Lorena Hanson, Rebecca (Corey) Spanier and Benjamin (Sarah) Cohen; Five Great-Grandchildren, Sydney Cohen, Makenna Cohen, Julian Cohen, Carson Spanier and Peyton Spanier; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Robert C. Roush; three brothers, Jess Paul, Lee Paul, and Donald Paul; sister, Doris Bergh; father, Joe Rawlings Paul and mother, Lorena Alice Paul.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gladys' name to the Alzheimer's Association of Colorado, 455 Sherman St #500, Denver, CO 80203.
