Phillip J. "Phil" Chavez, 65, of Littleton, passed away August 9, 2017.

He was born June 25, 1952 in Denver, Colorado, the son of Alfonso and Susie (Salazar) Chavez.

He was a graduate of North High School.

Phil loved to fish and hunt. He loved to play dice. Phil was an avid Colorado Rockies, Denver Broncos and Denver Nuggets fan. He will be remembered for being the luckiest guy and would constantly win on scratch-off tickets. He always had a positive attitude and was full of strength and willpower. He refused to give up on anything and would not quit. His willpower made sure that he survived pancreatic cancer for 2 years and 8 months until it returned. He defied all the odds for 35 years after he was hurt. He will be remembered as a warrior.

Phillip is survived by Two Sons, Landon P. Chavez and Phillip Chavez, Jr.; Daughter, Raquel S. (Sam) Avila; Five Grandchildren, Ethan Esquibel, Aaliyah Alvarado, Augustina Avila, Zaria Avila and Ariel Avila; The Love of His Life, Elizabeth Ward; Mother, Susie Sandoval; Sister, Madaline F. Urban; Three Brothers, Gilbert Chavez, Andy Chavez, Toby Chavez; Sister-In-Law, Adeline Chavez; and Many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
