Bertha Hale
1914 - 2017

Bertha Ellen Hale, the kindest most loving mother, school teacher and friend was born on March 27, 1914. Having lived with such a big heart and tender soul, Bertha passed away at the age of 103 on Thursday, August 10, 2017. Born and raised in Agate, Colorado, Bertha's biggest joy would be loving and working with children.

After only a couple of years of college at Greely, Colorado, she met and married her first husband, Hoot Gibson and in 1933 had her first daughter, Sharon Fleer. After her divorce in the late 1930's, she enjoyed working in a photography place developing pictures with her cousins. She did remarkable work there and used the talents she learned for many years to come.

In 1945 she met her second husband Raymond Hale while she was working at the Forest Service as a runner. There she was known as "The Sunshine Girl" because of her wonderful smile and upbeat personality!

During her 48 year marriage of happiness and prosperity, she gave birth to two more daughter, Susan in 1947 and Cindy in 1960. She then began a realm of many years of taking care of foster children with her endearing, nurturing ways.

At the age of 62 she went to work at Eagleton Elementary where she flourished and was deeply loved by all. He wonderful sense of direction and teaching skills with so many hugs of encouragement helped kids until her 97th year of age. She had dedicated her expertise of teaching and loving kids and co-workers for over 35 years at Eagleton Elementary.

Also survived by seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Fairmount Cemetery at a later date.
