In Memory Of
James Anthony Harla
1942 - 2017

James “Jim” Anthony Harla, 75, of Aurora, Colorado passed away Saturday, September 16th, 2017 surrounded by loved ones, faithfully believing he would be received by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was born January 21st, 1942 to Anthony Joseph Harla and Marian Elizabeth Harla in Buffalo, New York. He graduated valedictorian of Saint Joseph’s Collegiate Institute in 1959 and later moved to Denver, Colorado with his new bride, Jean “Maggie” Nelson in 1971 where they had four daughters.

His calling in life was to spread the word of God and spent almost all his free time helping others. In the United States Army, he was assistant to the Chaplin and recently ministered to prisoners through a church program. Whether it was getting a decaf coffee with two creamers at his nearby McDonalds or standing outside to pump gas, he would strike up a conversation with anyone at any time and surprisingly they would be from Buffalo.

Jim had a wonderful laugh and a profound talent for music, he will be sorely missed. He leaves behind his sister Joan Novy, his four daughters; Jennifer, Julie, Jamie and Joy and his six grandchildren; Savannah, Darien, Michael, Loghan, Ryan and Skyla. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law Don Novy, and many dear friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Chapel Aurora or a charity of your choice in his honor. Flowers can be sent to Calvary Chapel Aurora by Wednesday September 27th, 2017 or the morning of Thursday September 28th, 2017.

Services: Thursday, September 28th, 2017 at Calvary Chapel of Aurora at 11 am (also available online at calvaryaurora.org) followed by a ceremony at Ft. Logan National Cemetery at 2:30 pm in staging area B and a reception at Noonan’s Event Center 13521 E. Iliff Ave. Aurora, CO 80014.
