Patsy M. Cordova, 76, of Aurora, passed away October 18, 2017.

Maria Patricia Padilla was born October 3, 1941 in Puerto de Luna, New Mexico, the daughter of Pablo and Ascencion (Lopez) Padilla. She was a graduate of Santa Rosa High School in Santa Rosa, New Mexico. On May 30, 1959 she married Alfonso Cordova, of Vaughn, New Mexico.

Patsy never met a stranger. She always wore a smile on her face. Her laugh was contagious and often mischievous. She was happiest when she was around her family, going to garage sales, eating great food, and hanging out with her dog, Buddy. As a young child her widowed mother married Cirilo Baros, Jr. and this is the man she knew as “mi daddy”. She and Alfonso raised their children in many different places in New Mexico and settled in Santa Fe in 1971. Her husband worked in construction and when his job took him out of town Patsy held down the fort. She worked at Bonanza fabric store and sewed anything and everything for family and friends. When Alfonso’s job took him to Colorado in 1990 they decided to make it their new home. As she grew older, Patsy enjoyed morning walks at the mall and never missed an opportunity to take her family to show them off when they were visiting. When Alfonso retired they both spent their weekday mornings visiting with their mall walker friends and went on countless luncheons with their swimming group.

Patsy is survived by her husband, Alfonso Cordova; five children, Shirley (Donnie) Knopp, Linda Cordova, David (Fran) Cordova, Lisa Fowler, and Patricia (Mike) Flores; nine grandchildren, Adam Knopp, Troy (Sara Messer) Knopp, Stephen (Jessica) Cordova, DavidRay (Alisa Vanzelst) Cordova, Michelle Anaya, Jimmy Anaya, Evan Fowler, Megan (Pedro) Pinedo, and Jared Flores; ten great-grandchildren, Stephenie Cordova, Jackie Cordova, Logan Cordova, Lawrence (Adrianna Villas) Barela, Matthew Barela, Dominic Barela, Michael Anaya, Ryan Shamblin, Jayce Cordova, and Sofia Pinedo; two great-great-grandchildren, Michael Anaya, Jr., and baby Lorenzo Barela on the way; step-father, Cirilo Baros; aunt, Justita Garcia; brother, David (Irma) Padilla; sister, Polly Gonzales; and brother-in-law, Tony Ulibarri. She is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Ashley Rose Cordova; parents, Pablo Padilla, Jr. and Ascencion Baros; sisters, Stella Ulibarri and Cruzita Sanchez; and brothers-in-law, Jose Sanchez and Gilbert Gonzales.
