Frederick Charles Bennett died Friday, 2/23/18 in Denver, after a long illness. He was 59 years old. He was born 11/08/58 in Colorado Springs to Gerald Webb Bennett, Jr. and Mary Crumpacker Bennett.

He is survived by his mother Mary of Boulder, step-mothers Edwina Bennett and Olivia Bennett of Colorado Springs; and siblings Kate (San Diego), Jeb(Boulder), Molly(Boulder), Jodie (Colorado Springs) and Gena (Colorado Springs).

Fred is also survived by other beloved family members including three step siblings, his uncle, two aunts, many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Fred is survived by some good lifelong friends whom he greatly appreciated. Fred was predeceased by his father Gerald and brother Tom.

Fred graduated from Fountain Valley School in Colorado Springs where he excelled in athletics, academics, and theater. He starred as Oliver in the FVS musical and was captain of the tennis team.

He attended Western State University in Gunnison, where he won the school tennis tournament as a freshman. Fred worked mainly in the outdoor recreation and restaurant industries. He worked for the Pikes Peak YMCA, the Aspen Ski Corporation, and volunteered as a ski instructor with the Winter Park Program for the Disabled.

Fred lived most of his adult life in the Denver area where he worked in restaurants as a sous chef as well as in front-of-the-house positions. Fred’s main passions were skiing, tennis, backpacking to high mountain lakes, playing the electric key board, and his family. Fred’s joyful spirit, strength, and sense of humor, in the face of severe and persistent health challenges, have been greatly inspirational to his friends and family, and he will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the ASPCA or the Mental Health Center of Denver.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, 3/24/18, at noon, at Newcomer Funeral Home, Lakewood, CO.
