Harold E. Ray Sr., 87, of Golden, passed away April 12, 2018.

He was born December 1, 1930 in Lawrence, Kansas, the son of William and Lillie (Hartman) Ray.

Harold was a member of the Carpenter's Union where he received a 65-year service pin this year. Harold and Betty were active as stock car drivers at Lakeside Speedway. He also on a bowling team at the Golden Bowling Alley in his younger years. Harold and Betty would square dance around the state to follow certain callers. Harold was a member of Pleasantview Assembly of God. Later in life, he was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He was an avid fisherman. Harold also taught most of his family how to water ski. He was well-known for taking his grandchildren for rides on his lawn mower. Harold and Dorothy traveled a lot early in their marriage and visited every state in the Union except for 3. His favorite state to visit was Utah. He will be remembered as a caring family man who would do anything for anyone. He was a good man and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Harold is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Dorothy Turner-Ray; six sons, Harold E. (Debbie) Ray Jr., Stanley A. (Cindy) Ray, Marc L. (Shannon) Turner, Kenton L. (Belinda) Turner, Douglas J. (Jamie) Turner and Gregory M. (Katie) Turner; four daughters, Cynthia "Cindy" L. (Don) Nelson, Julia A. (Jimmy) Day, Lisa D. Bennett and Rebecca L. (Eric) Nielson; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren with one great-great-grandchild on the way; brother, Paul L. (Wilma) Ray; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and his cherished dog, Misty.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Betty L. Ray; Grandchild, James Eugene Allan Day, Great-Grandchild, Shannon Allan Day; father, William Ray; mother, Lillie Belle Ray; sister, Katherine Haas and brother, Art Ray.
