Williestine Riley
1942 - 2018

Williestine Riley, 75, of Aurora, passed away May 22, 2018.

Williestine Riley was born on August 29, 1942 in Scott, Arkansas to the late Julia Tucker and Willie West Daniels. During her early years, she spent the summers in Kerr, Arkansas with her extended family. She often spoke of all the fun that she had during these special times.

Williestine attended Horace Mann High School in Little Rock, Arkansas which was built for African-American students during the time of racial segregation. She proudly graduated in 1960 and attended several of her class reunions over the years.

Shortly after high school, Williestine began her career in healthcare working at the University Medical Center in Little Rock. In 1968 she married James Allen Riley, Sr. James’ career in the Air Force afforded their family the opportunity to travel the world together. She especially enjoyed the time they spent stationed at Rhein Main Air Force Base located near Frankfurt, Germany. They took advantage of their time exploring many sights and activities while there.

In 1977, the family relocated to Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado. Williestine continued her healthcare career accepting a position at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado where she worked in various positions until her retirement in 2008.

Her spiritual foundation began at New Light Baptist Church under the guidance of her uncle, Reverend George Tucker. Williestine stayed connected to her Lord and Savior and served faithfully until her health failed. At the time of her passing, she was a member of Greater St. John Baptist Church.

During her leisure, Williestine enjoyed traveling (especially going on cruises), chocolate (Snicker’s bars), dancing, walking, reading, solving puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends. Her family will truly miss the many fish frys, as frying fish was one of her specialties.

She was loyal to her family and supported her children and grandchildren. She was always present at sporting events, school activities, and more. She was also there for her mother, sister, and nephews despite the distance between them.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Julia Tucker and Willie West Daniels, sisters Helen Tucker and Ernestine Daniels and son James Allen Riley Jr.

We thank you for the positive impact that you left on our lives and until we meet again we will cherish the many fond memories you left us.

James Allen Riley Sr. (husband), Regina Bowman (daughter), Rhonda Riley-Babb (daughter), and Kevin Babb (son-in-law) Aurora, Colorado.
