Gary was born to the late John Freehling and Anna Shaffer on May 24, 1943 in Denver, Colorado. Gary attended Adams City High School. Gary enlisted in the Navy in 1961 where he was a damage controllman for 6 years. After his service in Vietnam Gary returned to Denver, Colorado where he was a truck driver for NW Transport. In 1975 Gary met his wife Sharon Lee Long at Bear Valley Baptist Church and they married on June 26, 1976. They remained married until Sharon passed away in 2016. Gary enjoyed fishing, woodworking, reading, and most of all his faith in God and spending time with his wife.
Gary is preceded in death by his grandparents, wife Sharon Freehling, father John Freehling, mother Anna Freehling, brother John Freehling, brother in law Dennis Lemke.
Gary is survived by his step children Adam Long, Jennifer Cic (Cory), sister Karen Nord (Jerry), grandchildren Dominic Long, Kaitlyn Cic, Keli Long, Isis Long, great grandson Isaiah Long, and Nephews Michael and Scott Lemke.
Viewing to be held at Newcomer West Metro Chapel on June 28, 2018 at 10:30am with Fort Logan to follow at 12pm , stage area "A."
