Jean Louise Schroder, 81, of Denver, Colorado, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 16, 2018. As a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, neighbor and friend, Jean was a devoted, loving and gracious lady with a huge heart who touched and enriched the lives of everyone she met.
Jean was born on June 10, 1937 in Moline, IL, to the late Christian and Ethel Bendsen. She graduated from Moline High School in 1954 and went on to receive a Bachelor’s in Speech Therapy from the University of Iowa in 1958. She married Alvin Schroder on August 15, 1959. They lived together in Iowa City where they had their first child, Paula. The couple later moved to Kansas City where they had their second child, Curtis and third child, Melissa before then relocating to Denver, Colo in 1963 where they had their fourth and final child, Andrew.
Jean’s most cherished accomplishments throughout the years were her home and family. She was dearly loved and rich in faith. She knew her hope was in heaven: “For God so loved the world, the He gave His only begotten Son, that whosever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Jean is survived by her spouse Al with whom she enjoyed 59 years of marriage, and three children: daughter Paula (husband Shunn), son Curtis (wife Bridget), and son Andrew (wife Shani). She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Courtney (husband Justin), Meggie (husband Carl), Ryan (wife Amber), Tyler, Chelsey (fiancé Enrique), Caleb, Connor, and four great-grandchildren: Mckenna, Briar, Grant, and Morgan. She was preceded in death by her daughter Melissa (Lisa) and her brother Richard (Dick).
A celebration of Jean’s life has been scheduled for Monday, July 23, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home located at 901 S. Sheridan Blvd Lakewood, CO 80226. Family and friends are welcome to a gathering with refreshments immediately following her celebration.
