Gerald (Jerry) L. Peterman Jr. was born an only child to Gerald L. Peterman Sr. and Ann Peterman on September 3, 1933 in Youngstown, Ohio. He entered into rest on May 11, 2012 in Westminster, Colorado.
Jerry was raised in Youngstown and after graduating high school worked in the steel mills until he was called to serve our country in the US Armed Forces. He served two years in France and Germany during the Korean Conflict.
After he returned from his service to our country, he married his high school sweetheart, Joan G. Elmo, of Youngstown on September 3, 1956.
Jerry and Joan lived and worked in the Youngstown area for a few years and then moved to Kent, Ohio where he worked as a police officer for Kent State University.
In about 1964 they moved to Ravenna, Ohio where he was the head custodian for Immaculate Conception Church and School. He remained at Immaculate Conception until 1972, at which time he accepted a position with King Soopers in Federal Heights, Colorado.
He lived and worked in the Thornton area until he retired from King Soopers in 1987.
After retiring, Jerry and Joan owned their own janitorial business for a while.
Jerry and his wife were living in Westminster, Colorado at Clear Creek Care Center in the same room together until he entered into rest.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Joan; children Mark (wife Connie) of Briggsdale, Colorado, Rose Ann, Mary Jo (Andy Alvarez), Laura of Westminster, Colorado, JoAnn (fiancé John Kidwell) of Thornton, Colorado; 7 grandchildren: Spencer, Lance, Michael, Jessica, Christina, Zac (wife Kaylee) and Angelica, and 11 great-grandchildren: Samantha, Jayda, Aryanna, Gloria, Dallas, Hailey, Trinity, Dylan, Erick Jr., Barrett, Lilyan.
