In Memory Of
Paul Clifford Giese Jr.
1945 - 2015

Paul Clifford Giese passed away on March 26, 2015. He was 69.

Paul was born June 21, 1945 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin into a loving family as the second youngest child of five. In 1962, Paul was drafted into the United States Army, and, after serving two years in various overseas assignments, he was discharged honorably. Paul attended the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point and later the McGeorge School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor. Paul began a private law practice in Reno, Nevada. He also became involved in the sport of drag boat racing, and it was at such a race that he met his wife Debbie. Paul and Debbie were married and soon were joined by their children, John Paul and Amanda. Life took an abrupt turn five years later when Paul was diagnosed with a severe heart condition that required a transplant.

Immediately, Paul was placed on the transplant list, but he waited a full 15 years on the list before finally receiving a new heart at the University Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah on November 14, 1999. Paul practiced law in the state of Nevada before his transplant and continued afterward. Eventually, Paul began working for the State of Nevada’s Public Defender’s Office, were he became the chief trial deputy, a position he continued until his retirement in December 2008. After retiring, he moved to Colorado where he lived until his death. Paul was able to donate his organs, continuing the cycle of organ donation that had been so precious in his life.

Paul is remembered as a proud and lively man, as well as a bibliophile. Paul is survived by his wife Debbie, his two children, John Paul and Amanda, his siblings, Rose, Bev, Jim, and Nancy, and his two grandchildren, Aerial and Hank. Paul is preceded in death by his father Paul C. Giese Sr. and his mother Lorene (Fines) Giese.
At Paul’s request, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Heart Association, the ASPCA, or the Dumbfriends League.
