Albert Frausto Velasco 11/29/1928 – 04/23/2015

Born in Douglas, AZ Albert graduated from Douglas High School where he set records in the 440m run on the track team. He enlisted in the Navy during the Korean Conflict, was honorably discharged and then came to Denver with his wife, Mary and son Mike. Their daughter Yvonne was born soon after moving to Colorado. Albert is survived by his wife Mary, his daughter Yvonne and many grandchildren. His son Mike preceded him in death in 2007.

Albert worked for Teledyne Packard Bell and then for Fred Schmidt Appliance Co. until he retired in 1993. Albert was an avid reader and continued his education by teaching himself ham-radio, photography, painting, wood-sculpture and guitar. Early in life, Albert became interested in target- shooting and even hand-loaded his own ammunition. He enjoyed the precision of shooting and the self-competition it represents.

Throughout his life, Albert enjoyed embracing the Bible and researching the family genealogy. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting and gold-panning in the Rocky Mountains.

When in his 70's, he joined the computer revolution and learned his way around the internet and email. He always loved new ideas and technology and this kept his interests up-to-date. Albert loved his family and was a devoted husband and father. Family was his priority and he traveled to see them as often as he could.

Albert is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Velasco; daughter, Yvonne Long; brother, Paul Velasco; grandson, Anthony Long; granddaughter, Valerie Hale; two great-grandchildren, Liberty Hale and Stephen Hale. He was preceded in death by his son, Albert Miguel Velasco, father, Mauro Velasco and mother, Anastacia Velasco.
