Joyce Darlene Newman, 64, of Byers, passed away August 21, 2015.
She was born November 21, 1950 in Byers, Colorado, the daughter of Raymond and Liselottie (Schrum) Newman. She was the salutatorian of her graduating class at Byers High School. She also attended the University of Northern Colorado.
During her years of work, most currently being with Waste Management, she made a wide assortment of friends. She was a warm person and was very likable. She was always willing to give a helping hand when she could. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family and enjoyed cooking for the family gatherings. She enjoyed doing the search ‘a words and reading in her spare time. She also loved to travel and explore places, a lot of times going with her nephew Michael. One of her most favorite spots were the Black Hills in South Dakota. She also loved going to Oklahoma and San Diego. Joyce also enjoyed classic cars, attending car races and car shows.
Joyce is survived by her two sisters, Shirley Stowers and Dorothy (Steve) Mullison; four nephews, Jessie Stowers, Ronnie Stowers, Donnie Stowers, and Michael Newman; one niece, Amanda (Scott) Avara; two great-nephews, Jessie Cayden Stowers and Zane Stowers; and two great-nieces, Aubrie Stowers and Hadley Stowers. She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Liselottie Newman.
A Memorial Service for Joyce is being held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the American Legion Hall in Byers, CO.
