Ted Desnica, 80 of Lakewood passed away on August 30, 2015.
Ted was born on May 18, 1935 in Nevada City, California the son of George and Mary (Drazich) Desnica. He was a graduate of Lakewood High School '53 in Lakewood, Colorado. After high school Ted enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and served from 1954 - 1958 and continued in the reserves until 1962. After serving in the Coast Guard, he continued his education at the University of Denver earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Masters of Arts. On August 11, 1956 he married Bonee Dreith of Denver, Colorado.
After completing college Ted became an Art Teacher teaching at North Arvada Junior High, Arvada Junior High, Bear Creek High and Green Mountain High schools. He taught jewelry, ceramics and sculpture, but also enjoyed painting. His real passion though was cartooning. Ted had a great sense of humor and it showed in his cartoons and caricatures. He was also a great story teller and loved to tell jokes.
In his spare time Ted enjoyed sports and spending time with friends and family. Some of his favorite past times included playing golf, fishing and some occasional duck hunting when he was younger. He was also a Bronco, Rockies and Avalanche fan. The last several years Ted really looked forward to having breakfast with his teaching friends and high school buddies every week.
Ted is survived by his wife of 59 years Bonee and daughter Terri Desnica. He is preceded in death by his daughter Tammi Desnica, his father George Desnica, and mother Mary Desnica.
