In Memory Of
John F. "Jack" Keegan
1944 - 2015

John "Jack" Francis Keegan, 71, of Denver died August 31st at home. He was born to the late Frank and Pauline (Marty) Keegan on July 29, 1944 in Cleveland, Ohio. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Bowling Green University.

Jack was a member of the US Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He was a 2nd Lieutenant commanding the 1204 Army Reconnaissance Unit. He received the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.

He met his wife while organizing and attending meetings of the FAGOWEES, a singles active social club in the late 1970s. After a whirlwind yearlong romance, Jack married Diana on June 18, 1977 on Mt. Vernon in Colorado.

Jack was a salesman in the telecommunication industry for many years. He was also a Boy Scout Leader and an active outdoorsman. He loved to ski, fish, scuba dive, hike, camp and travel. He dabbled in photography: the multitudes of photos attest to the fun filled vacations he enjoyed with Diana. Jack had a crazy zest for life and one would often find him throwing the "Hang Loose" hand sign. He was proud to be an Irishman and an avid Bronco fan.

Jack is survived by his wife Diana (Shenfish) Keegan; his sister Patty Mobley (Don) of Rifle, CO; his niece, Aileen Marshall (Randy) of Rifle, CO; and his dog Hana. He is also survived by his step-daughters Erin Van Dok (Rich), Highlands Ranch, CO; and Kathy Johnson (Mark), Palm Harbor, FL. He is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Pauline Keegan and nephew Edward Ptacek.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Warrior Canine Connection at warriorcanineconnection.org. “Warrior Canine Connection enlists recovering warriors in a therapeutic mission of learning to train service dogs for their fellow veterans.”

Services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home Friday, September 11 at 9:30 am followed by military honors at Ft. Logan Cemetery.
