He was born July 6, 1948 to the late John R. and Maxine Sacker, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He came to Colorado for college in 1966, loved it, and stayed. Tom worked as a social worker and later as a registered nurse. He married the late Gisela Henschel in 1996, and they enjoyed traveling together. They made many visits to Santa Fe, a particular favorite.

Tom truly loved the mountains, camping, hiking, and climbing. He had a long term passion for baseball and music as well.

He is survived by his sister, Pat Niederhaus, six nieces and nephews and their spouses, as well as a great-niece and great-nephew. He also leaves behind lifelong friends whom he greatly valued.
