Walter was born in Oakland, Tennessee on March 6, 1938. He was one of three children. Alice Faye Steele and Peggy Jo Syrie. Born to Savola Lee Johnson. His parents preceded him in death.

At an early age Walter was cared for by his grandmother Allene Lee who raised him in the bosom of the Lee family and instilled in him values and Christian love.

Walter loved to bowl, play bingo and cheer on his NFL football them the Cleveland Browns.

Walter moved to Chicago, Illinois where he went to work for the United States Post Office. In 1970 he moved to Denver, Colorado where he went to work for the University Club as a maintenance technician.

Walter will be missed and remembered by his loving wife Lucille of 48 years, his sisters Alice Faye Steele (Denver Co), Peggy Jo (Melvin) Syrie of Denver Co. Children: Adriane Hackett (Denver, Co), Teryl (James) Sims of Houston, Tx.; Robbye (Lorinzia) Hannah of Houston, Tx.; Walter (Channa) Lee of Commerce City. Co.; Sandra (Travis) Hudson of Chicago IL.; Ryan Lee of Chicago, IL.; Desmon Goston Lee of Chicago, IL. His aunts Marjorie Levi of Chicago, IL, Ruth Jordon of Fort Wayne, IN. Grandchildren: Africia, Thecia, Sierra, Lorinzia Jr., Roland, Ashley, Quinten, Avery, Michaela, Trennis, Brandon; Seven great- grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends; and his devoted friend Charles Austin.
