In Memory Of
Murray M. Boyd
1934 - 2017

Murray M. Boyd, age 82, passed into eternity on Jan. 2, 2017 in Gainesville, FL, where he and his wife Barbara resided with their son. He was born Nov. 29, 1934, in Abilene, Texas, to the late Vesta and Ima Boyd. Murray graduated from Artesia High School and got his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Hardin-Simmons University in 1956. He received a Masters of Divinity from Golden Gate Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1963.

He enjoyed reading his entire life, especially about the American West. He loved sports, both playing and watching, and was an avid golfer even after losing the use of his left arm. But nothing gave him as much joy as being with his grandchildren and watching them mature.

He began his marriage of 63 years to Barbara Ann Humphreys in 1953. For 42 years, she helped him as he served in the ministry and pastored churches in Ripon, Clements, Fresno, and Ridgecrest, California, and in Aurora, Colorado. Murray gave his life to serving his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, pastoring His people, and spreading the gospel of the Kingdom of God. With the mind of a cowboy, he had the heart of a shepherd.

Murray is survived by his brother, Jordan Boyd; his sister, Onita McDaniel; his children, Phyllis Rader (Don), Charlotte Todd (Brian), and Edmund Boyd; 14 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

His memorial service is being held on Wednesday, Jan. 11th, at 7:00 pm, at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Metro Chapel, Aurora, CO. Interment will be on Thursday, Jan. 12th, at 9:30 am, at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Littleton, CO.
