Maria Virginia Gallegos, 82, of Westminster, passed away January 6, 2018.

She was born March 10, 1935 in New Mexico, the daughter of Ernest and Lucy (Martinez) Lovato.

She was a graduate of St. Cajitan High School.

On May 6, 1956, she married Jose I. Gallegos.

Maria will be remembered for her cooking and baking. She taught many members of her family how to cook. She would camp and spend time with her husband, Jose, in the mountains. She would relax and watch Dancing With The Stars or her Denver Broncos play. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed the time that she spent with her family and friends.

Maria is survived by two sons, Paul Gallegos and Joseph Gallegos; three grandchildren, Joseph (Claudette) Gallegos, Cheryl Gallegos and Angela Gallegos; Seven great-grandchildren, Athena Gallegos, Danazha Maestas, Sebastian Montano, Aaliyah Gallegos, Cairo Gallegos, Cosmo Gallegos and Phoenix Gallegos; two brothers, Sam (Jane) Lovato and Ernie Lovato; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and her two beloved dogs, Ponce and Pinny.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Jose I. Gallegos; son, Jerald Gallegos; father, Ernest Lovato and mother, Lucy Lovato.
