In Memory Of
Jerald Wilson Dody
1941 - 2018
He was born to the late Earl and Vera (Facklam) Dody on February 12, 1941 in Fort Scott, Kansas. In high school he enjoyed playing football and 4-H Club. He went on to join the Navy in 1962.
On September 1, 1967 he married Verna Kuehn in Memphis, Tennessee. They had met at the USO three months prior.
Jerald chose the Navy because of their training in electronics and was an Electronics Technician with the Navy for 20 years. With the Navy he was able to travel extensively around the world and earned many certificates as well as his Associates in Electronics. In 1981 when he retired from the Navy, with his high security clearance and multiple certifications in electronics he continued to work as a civilian at Unisys (now known as L3 communications).
Family, above anything else, was his passion. He enjoyed genealogy and traveled to see the castles in England and the ruins in Ireland of his ancestors. Jerald is survived by his wife, Verna Dody; daughters, Kimberly L. Searfoss and Sheryl A. (Robert) Groner; grandchildren, Samantha Shae Groner, Alexander Wilson Searfoss, Raena Elise Groner, Andrew Jerald Searfoss, Ayla Jade Groner; brother, Roy (Betty) Dody; sisters, Lois Osborn and Marilyn (Edward) Demsky; and brother-in-law, James Sutherland. He is preceded in death by his parents Earl Dody and Vera Dody; and sister, Janet Sutherland.
Jerald was humble and choose to give anonymously, so any memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
