It is with great sadness that the family of Joel Patrick Day announces his passing on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the age of 52.

Joel was born in Denver, CO on July 22, 1966 to Mary Frances Day and the late James Day. He graduated from Rangeview High School in Aurora, CO as the class of 1985 and studied art and music at Community College of Aurora. Joel was an accomplished drummer and passionate about music. He won three state drumming competitions and played in the band, Scarlet Soul along with his brother, Steve Day.

Joel was a Field Service Technician with Hill-Rom and worked at Swedish Medical Center. When not playing his drums, he worked to restore and repair drums, did woodworking and spent time with his family and friends. Joel was a self-described "drummer, artist, builder, creator, dreamer, and believer".

Joel will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Frances Day and step-father, Doug Colbert; brothers and sisters, Michelle Day, Steve Day, Nick (Debbie) Day and Cheryl (Mark) Schoneweis; nieces and nephews, Christina Day, Justin Day, Amber Bricco, Tiffany (Jaime) Martin, Joshua (Giselle) Day, Elijah Schoneweis and Alexander Schoneweis and nine great-nieces and nephews. Joel was preceded in death by his father, James Day.

Reception to follow mass from 12-2pm at St. Pius X Catholic Church 13670 E 13th Pl, Aurora, CO 80011.
