He was born May 17, 1924 in Crested Butte, Colorado, the son of Benjamin and Kathryn (Blair) Snyder. When he was 4 years old, his family moved to California where he lived for 1 year and at 5 they moved back to Crested Butte but settled in Gunnison, where he spent the rest of his youth.
He was a graduate of Gunnison High School.
Robert honorably served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, being discharged in 1946 as a Pharmacist's Mate Second Class.
He graduated from Western State College in Gunnison with a Bachelors of Arts degree in 1951. It was there that he also met the love of his life, Lucille McCann. They were married on December 17, 1949 in St. James Church in Denver.
Robert loved to fish with Lucille. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends, having coffee regularly.
Robert is survived by friend, Diane Himyak and cousin, Bill (Leandra) Snyder.
He is preceded in death by wife, Lucille M. Snyder; father, Benjamin Snyder and mother, Kathryn Snyder.
