1932 - 2019

Arlene Loraine Sanchez formerly of Denver, Colorado passed away on Wednesday May 15, 2019 in Lakewood, Colorado, she was 86 years old.

Arlene was born August 19, 1932, the daughter of August and Florence (Pugh) Reusch and grew up in the Pittsburgh area. Arlene married her hometown sweetheart Ronald Collins in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on June 24, 1952. From this union they had one son and three daughters.

Being a wife of an active military husband, the family moved around and ended up in Aberdeen, Maryland where Arlene and Ronald divorced in 1965.

While living in Aberdeen, Arlene met George “Gene” Sanchez and fell in love. They were married on November 21, 1969 at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Aberdeen, Maryland. With this marriage they combined Arlene’s four children along with Gene’s four children into one large family and moved to Lakewood, Colorado in 1972. They bought a home in Lakewood and raised their combined family as one as if all 8 children were always their own.

Gene passed away in 2001 and Arlene decided to sell the family home and downsize moving to the Harvey Park area of Denver. She lived there for seventeen years enjoying her home and yard leaving there in January 2019 and moving back to the Lakewood area.

Arlene worked for many companies over the years, but her line of work was always in some form of bookkeeping. She retired from Lutheran Hospital in 1997.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband Gene, one daughter, Shawn Bashaw and one grandson, Brandon Skinner. Arlene is survived by the following children: Ronald (Melanie) Collins; Paulette (Duane) Pell; Susan Hunt; Sheree Skinner; Robin (Tony) Loloff; David (Karen) Sanchez; Dawn (Jerry) Foster; 20 Grandchildren and 21 Great Grandchildren.

A private internment will be at Fort Logan Cemetery. A memorial service and celebration of life will be on June 10, 2019 at 2 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 901 South Sheridan.
