Betty Jean Washington was born on March 11, 1929 in Omaha, Nebraska, to Dorothy and Joseph Stevens.

Betty and her sister, Charlotte grew up in Omaha before relocating to Denver, Colorado, with their mother and stepfather, Robert Johnson. Betty attended Cole Junior High School and went on to graduate from Manual High School.

She married Morris L. Barnes and were blessed with three children, Gail Davis, Gregory L. Barnes, and Ricardo A. Barnes.

A number of years following the death of her first husband, Betty married Earnest Washington on December 20, 1970 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Betty held various jobs throughout her life. She worked for General Rose Hospital, Dravo Engineering, IBM, she worked for Dennis and Judy McCormick, KP and Liza Kirkpatrick.

She loved to cook and always had the family over for the holidays. Her family would look forward to Betty serving her famous Mac and Cheese.

Betty is survived by her three children, Gail Davis, Greg (Devora) Barnes, and Ricardo Barnes (Christie McCray); seven grandchildren, Tony, Lynette, Corey, Gregory II, Ricardo II, Antonio, and Tish; six great-grandchildren, Trevon, OhShae, Dorian, Sterling, Christian, and Devin; and nine great-grandchildren, Uriyah, Makaaya, Dorian Jr., Marie, Jada, Zariah, Savannah, Saniyah, G’Maunii, and Baby JoJo.

Betty was loved by her family and will be deeply missed.
