George William Zierk, III, 66, of Aurora, passed away June 18, 2019.

He was born July 11, 1952 in Racine, Wisconsin, the son of George and Dorothy (Stump) Zierk. He was a graduate of Lake Forest High School in Lake Forest, Illinois. He attended University of Colorado for his undergraduate education and received his Juris Doctor from William Mitchell College of Law St. Paul, Minnesota during which time he served an exchange at Queen's College in Cambridge, England.

On August 19, 1978, he married Dorene Jensen.

George was a founding member of Peace With Christ Lutheran Church in Aurora and was a member of the Colorado Bar. George was also a recognized attorney to argue cases in front of the United States Supreme Court. George recently retired his long-time position as the City Deputy Attorney for the City of Aurora.

He was also a Scout Leader and involved in many sports as a Baseball, Soccer and Flag Football Coach. George represented the ALS Association as a patient advocate, traveling to Washington, D.C. to meet with Congressmen and other staffers to bring light to his cause.

George was a family man first and foremost. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed skiing, hiking, traveling, cooking and grilling. He enjoyed supporting his Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies. He was happiest spending time with his family and friends. George was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

George is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Dorene Zierk; daughter, Katelyn (Brent) Fanning; son, JT "Jordan" Zierk; grandchild, Reese Fanning; cherished dog, Bailey the Bichon; 4 siblings including his sister, Sharon Zierk; eight brothers-and-sisters-in-law, Tom (Diane) Jensen, Paul (Sindi) Jensen, Dave (Kristin) Jensen and LeAnn (Patrick) McPherson; many loving nieces and nephews; many extended family members and a host of friends.

He is preceded in death by father, George William Zierk, II and mother, Dorothy Ann Zierk.
