Margo Ellen Leonard Life story video
A beautiful arrayed sunrise happened on March 28, 1941, when Margo Ellen was born to Ruth McCall-Jones and Robert Jones in Philadelphia, PA. Growing up, she loved to draw and paint. She was a military kid and attended Philly High School.

For the third time visiting Germany, there was a plan in the works as her father, Master Sgt. in the ARMY, and a plan for her to meet and marry a Specialist-4 Corporal by the name of Otis Wesley Leonard.

Previously engaged to another man in Philly, her father called her mother, Ruthy (we affectionately called her) to get Margo on a plane to meet Otis. Her father's plan worked.

They met in Worms, Germany and Otis proposed to her at the 1st Protestant Church, and on June 20, 1962, she married the love of her life. A funny thing happened though...because the clerk made a mistake on the paperwork, they had to remarry on July 20, 1962. They would have been married for fifty-eight years this year.

Living in Bad-Karlsruhe, Germany for two years in a converted castle, she took craft classes and made babies; two sons were born. After two years, they headed to Colorado Springs in April 1964 and stayed for a year. They settled in California where two daughters were born. At the age of 35, she accepted Christ and joined Mt. Calvary COGIC, under the leadership of Pastor Clarence Church and Assistant Pastor Alvin Leonard. When Uncle Alvin Leonard started a church and became pastor of Greater Deliverance COGIC, she became a faithful member, as an office administrator, choir mother and occasionally she taught YPWW.

In the late 70's our Uncle Alvin helped her get a job at McDonnell Douglas, where she worked on MC-11's DC-9's and F-16's for three years. Later, she went to school to learn how to decorate cakes and started helping Inez Hunter (her play mom), in a catering business. She became a wiz at making crocheted dolls. She was so creative, she also wrote a novel, which was presented to her in August 2016: Embrace to Dawn: To live Again. In 2001, Otis and Margo moved to Denver, CO, retiring there. She joined New Covenant COGIC under Pastor Albert Conner, as the choir mother.

Her spectacular arrayed sunset, filled with overflowing family and love was on February 6, 2020. She leaves in love her husband Otis W. Leonard, Sr.; one first cousin, Shelby Muchison; four children, Otis Jr. (Kathleen), Robert (Sheila), Arnita Renee (Joseph), and Lauren (Kevin); a stepdaughter, Lisa Faye (Roy); a best friend and sister in Christ for over 50 years, Theresa Peary; nine grandchildren, Shedric (Susy), Robert Jr. (Jessica), Carleen (Eric), Nathaniel, DeAndre, Jasmine (Imari), David, Joshua, Nehemiah; and five great grandchildren, Neveah, Robert III, Genesisa, Amari and Jazlynn; and a host of play daughters, cousins and friends.

Her life was an example of love, respect, giving, and care to everyone she met. We will miss her dearly. She's at peace and in her own last words, "I will be with Jesus."
