Hugh Raymond Longwell, 87, of Strasburg, CO passed away on February 10, 2020. Ray was the second child born to Hugh Mortimer and Ethel Helen (Spicer) in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania on June 1, 1932. The family moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1946 and Ray graduated from Tucson Senior High School in May, 1950.
Ray started his career with Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph in Tucson in 1950. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955. Upon return to Mountain Bell, he was transferred to Phoenix and then to Denver in 1966. He retired from AT&T on December 31, 1985.

He and his wife, Sally, moved to Strasburg in 1991 to further his hobby of restoring antique Farmall tractors. He took great pride in displaying his tractors with his sons and family in the annual Strasburg Hometown Days parade.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Marion and Grace, grandson Bryce, and first wife Ellen Ruth (Agnew). He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sally Ann (Ford), sons Barry (Diana), Gary (Sheila), Daryl (Deb), and Dennis (Aleta). He is also survived by his grandchildren Nick (Kelly), Kyle (Amy), Matthew, Alison, Katie, Jackson, and Keilani.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the new community Christian School in Strasburg at P.O. Box 556, Strasburg, CO 80136.
