Jan B. Gutierrez (Berry) passed away pm March 17, 2020 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was surrounded by her family and loved ones at the time of her death.

Jan is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Dr. Michael A. Gutierrez, her daughter, Bethany Himes (Jeff), her son Micah Thompson (Kirsten), and by her sister, Marytena Hodges. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jan is fondly remembered as a dedicated nurse in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky and as the school nurse in Gilpin County, Colorado. She retired shortly after learning of her diagnosis. She received a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from University of Phoenix and an Associate's degree in Nursing from Somerset Community College.

Throughout her life, Jan was an avid lover of animals and also loved to travel and hike in the mountains and the deserts of the Southwest. She also was a talented artist and gardener with her own greenhouse as well as a devoted grandmother to all of her grandchildren.

Jan is preceded in death by her father Ralph "Hack" Berry of Leitchfield, Kentucky, her grandmother Sarah Hancock and two aunts, Audrey and Tenabel Hancock all of Greensburg, Kentucky. Jan wished to be cremated and her memorial service will be delayed until Summer of 2020 due to the current pandemic.
