In Memory Of
Lorraine Marie Mayberry
1961 - 2020

Lorraine Marie Mayberry graced this world on January 23, 1961 in Denver, CO at Fitzsimons Medical Army Hospital, and completed the large family of 9 children to Lonny and Lela Mayberry. She took great pride and often boasted in being “Mommy and Daddy’s Baby Girl”. She grew up surrounded in love and never in need of a playmate, for her siblings Gertha, Gloria, Charles, Earl, Don, Lonny Jr., Barbara, and Carolyn were her friends and protection.

She attended Tinker Elementary School in Tampa, FL one in which she shared fond memories with her sisters, Carolyn and Barbara, and her brother Lonny Jr. Being in a military family she attended various other schools in FL, and NC, until her family returned to CO, where she attended Jr. High School. Later the family moved to Thornton, CO, where she continued her education and graduated from Highland High School. She furthered her passion for learning by taking some college courses.

Growing up in a military family, Lorraine moved often as a child from Okinawa, Japan; Florida; N. Carolina; then back home to Colorado. Being a Military Brat ignited her passion for travel and adventure, which she carried into adulthood by taking road trips with the infamous “Fantastic 4”, in her beloved car, Abby. She lived life uninhibited by societies mediocracy and enjoyed whitewater rafting; horseback riding; mountain climbing; seeing plays; going to concerts; and trying unique food. She was also free spirited and enjoyed the simple and carefree pleasures of hula hooping with her family; jumping rope; playing Jacks; and skating. As an “Old Soul” she relished in the knowledge and discovery of REAL black history; expressions of poetry; and perfecting her gifting of cooking and gardening. She had a way of making simple things elegant.

On February 7, 1989, The Most High blessed her with her own wildflower Leta Jane, her beautiful daughter, whom adorned and gave opulence to her Mama’s life for 22 years until, on August 10, 2011 The Most High put her back in His garden.

Lorraine has been and will always be loved by many, but in 2011 was and has been uniquely loved by a man who loved the way she loved him. Doesn’t like when he doesn’t understand her. Loved that she plans with him. Is hurt when her past hurts impose on the harmony of their love story and trust is in question. Loves that she’s an awesome driver, but can do without her back seat driving. Loves how she looks at the world differently, expanding his view, keeping him motivated to grow and be a better man. Is hurt when she is hurt or sick. Loves and values her cooking skills, feeding not only his body but his soul.

Lorraine has built life, love, and family, with Joseph Rejent these past 9 years cherishing him and the union they share.

Whether you know her by Lorraine, Ms. Mayberry, Wayne, Snapshot, Sling, Snap, Cookstove, Queen “No Fair and Do Over”, Rain, Rain Drops, Reindeer, Sling Shot, Baby Girl, Sis, Auntie, Friend, Mommy, or Honeys to know her is to know that she loves and fights with intense passion, and that if she enveloped you in her heart’s space you experienced both.

Lorraine was blessed with the spiritual gifts of encouragement, service, giving, knowledge, and faith, which she applied to every facet of her life. From professionally working in health care, liberally imparting love to the young and old, to offering that bright smile, and or haiku’s laced with truth to friends and family.

Lorraine began her walk with her Savior at a very young age and has matured in her understanding of herself culturally and of Him functionally. As their intimacy has expounded, He opened her mind’s eye to see His essence, and her heart’s ear to hear His voice, even His true name, Yahshua. Lorraine submitted whole heartedly like a child to His will and following His commandments. Holding dear every Word that proceeds from the mouth of The Father, she kept her Bible open and read, acknowledging the current display of His judgments and eagerly awaited the promises He has for her and those that love and obey Him. On Friday March 27, 2020, Ms. Lorraine Marie Mayberry finished the last mile of her race, and raced joyfully into the arms of our King and Savior Yahshua.

1 Corinthians 9:24-27 New King James Version (NKJV)
Striving for a Crown
24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. 25 And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. 26 Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. 27 But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.
