In Memory Of
Frank Aguilar
1923 - 2020

Frank Aguilar died peacefully in his daughter’s home in Denver, CO surrounded by family on Sunday September 27, 2020.

Frank was born in Zacapu, Michoacán, Mexico on January 13, 1923, the second of ten children to Jose Aguilar and Julia Garcia Aguilar. He and his family grew up in Allen Farm, Texas. In 1943 Frank joined the Army Air Corp where he served for three years during WW II. Frank became a naturalized citizen of the United States on January 25, 1946.

In 1946 Frank married the love of his life, Mary Samaniego, and they lived together happily for 58 years until her death in June of 2005. They moved to Chicago, IL where Frank worked as a steelworker for over 30 years. After retiring he and Mary moved to a Catholic retirement village in Crowley, Texas to be closer to family.

Frank was an energizer bunny. He worked two jobs when needed to support his family. Even after retirement he expended energy gardening for all the older women in the village in exchange for food, sweets and cash. He had quite the green thumb and transported roses, bushes and a tree to Denver where they continue to thrive.

Together with Mary, Frank raised four beautiful, accomplished daughters who cared for him as he aged and are mourning his loss: Guadalupe Loyd and husband Charles of Denver, CO; Juanita Arroyo and husband Juan of Chicago, IL; Frances Walendzik of Denver, CO; and Irene Aguilar and husband Thomas Bost of Denver, CO. Frank is also survived by his son, Frank Lee Aguilar of Silsbee, Texas.

Frank was the patriarch of a large family and is survived by fourteen grandchildren:

David Colon of Chicago, IL;

Nanette Alvarez Carter of Bolingbrook, IL;

Sebastian Lopez of Justice, IL;

LuzMaria Arroyo of Joliet, IL;

Francisco Arroyo of Oceanside, CA;

Adriana Arroyo of Hickory Hills, IL;

Daniel Walendzik of Lakewood, CO;

Matthew Walendzik of Wheat Ridge, CO;

Sarah Walendzik of Lakewood, CO;

Jonathan Bost of New York, NY;

Amy Bost of Denver, CO;

Meg Bost of Durham, NC;

Nicole Aguilar of Texas;

Frank Lee Aguilar, Jr of Virginia.

Frank is also survived by sixteen great grandchildren and 2 great great grandsons. Frank lost a great granddaughter in 2011, Jessica Marie Lopez. He is now resting in peace with her and Mary.
