EDWARDS, WYANDLE DWAYNE "WAYNE"

Formerly of Aurora, CO, currently of Arvada, CO passed away September 27, 2020.

In May 1932 Wayne was born in Sulpher Springs, Texas and he graduated from Saltillo High School in 1950.

In July 1953 he married Marilyn Geraldine Schneider of Albany, Texas.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1957, during the Korean Conflict.

His craft was as a sheet metal mechanic, but his passion was camping, and stream fishing in particular, which led him to move his young family to Colorado permanently after leaving the USAF.

He settled them into their home in Aurora, CO, raised their two daughters, Carla and Cheryl, and lived there for about 60 years.

Wayne and his family maintained close ties with their extended family in Texas, and travelled there often, where he was loved and appreciated for his big heart and helping hands.

The family maintained a strong faith in Jesus Christ, and an allegiance to the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, with lengthy memberships at Hope Lutheran and Mt. Olive Lutheran churches, both in Aurora.

He worked his entire career in crafting sheet metal, working with Martin Marietta Aerospace in Littleton, and the Dept. of the Army at Rocky Mountain Arsenal in Aurora. He was excellent at his trade and received many commendations. He enjoyed the affectionate nickname “Tin Bender”.

Wayne Edwards was a quiet, gentle, family man. He was kind and giving to others, making friends easily. He was respected for his faith and personal integrity. He both loved and was loved by others. He was close to his 4 grandchildren, and enjoyed their company, taking them on fishing trips in the Rocky Mountains.

During the past 4 years Wayne enjoyed living at Arbor View (formerly Colorado Lutheran Home) assisted living apartments in Arvada, CO, making even more friends.

He is survived by a daughter, Carla (Gary) Thexton; four grandchildren: Kristin Stine, Sara Stine, Gabriel (Kelly) Thexton, Anna Thexton; 2 great-grandchildren: Alex Thexton, Ethan Thexton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Edwards in 2010; and a daughter, Cheryl Stine in 1998.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society in honor of Wayne.
