Cecil Setsuo Kitashima, 84, of Arvada, Colorado, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020. Cecil was born in Atwood, Colorado to Tokujiro and Yeto (Fukuda) Kitashima. He grew up in Colorado with six brothers and three sisters.

Cecil served two years in the U.S. Army as a Light Weapons Infantryman. Following his service in the Army, Cecil worked for Associated Grocers until his employment with United Airlines. After 39 years of service with United Airlines, Cecil went into semi-retirement and was able to work his dream job at Coors Field for the Colorado Rockies.

Cecil is survived by his children David Kitashima, Mark (Joy) Kitashima and Kathleen (Terry) Freund; grandchildren Kyle (Courtney) Kitashima, Justin (Mindy) Kitashima, Kane Kitashima, Sarah Kitashima, Grace Freund, Caitlynn Kitashima and great-grandson Stratton Kitashima. He leaves behind sister Miye Onodera, sisters-in-law Jean Kitashima, Flo Kitashima, brother-in-law Ken Nakauchi and beloved friend, Virginia Motoyama. Cecil was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Kitashima, in 2008.

Cecil’s final resting place will be with his wife Mabel at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.

In lieu of koden or flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the charity of choice, in memory of Cecil Setsuo Kitashima.
