She was born February 27, 1927 in Lucerne, Colorado, the daughter of Miguel and Nemesia (Ortega) Herrera.
She graduated high school and later received her Associates Degree in Business.
On October 5, 1947, she married Juan Joe Castillo.
Phyllis worked as a Tax Preparer at her brother's business, AAA Tax Service for many years.
She did take many trips with her family including trips to New York City, Bahamas, Mexico and many cruises. Her family was her priority and she enjoyed all the time spent with each member.
Phyllis is survived by two sons, Rudy (Linda) Castillo and Russell Castillo; grandchildren, Eric (Kristy) Castillo, Michelle (Ryan) Thompson; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Lucas and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends all over the country.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Juan Joe Castillo on February 27, 1994; father, Miguel Herrera and mother, Nemesia Herrera.
