Elna Sievers
1918 - 2021

Elna Emma Elenora Lund Sievers, 102, of Englewood, passed away April 22, 2021. She was born August 30, 1918 in Arlington, Nebraska, the daughter of Albert and Hannah (Laaker) Lund.

She was born during the first year of the Spanish Flu Pandemic and lived to near the end of the Covid-19 Pandemic -- 102 and 2/3 years later – a long and loving life!

Elna was born and spent her younger life in rural Nebraska but moved with her husband, Wilmer Sievers, and their three daughters to the Denver area in 1953. Elna and Wilmer famously bought a new brick house in Englewood after they had peeked in the windows by flashlight one evening. Wilmer passed some years ago but Elna continued to live in that same house, welcoming visits from family and friends for all these many years.

There could be a lengthy list of achievements, awards, accomplishments, titles (how about Secretary to the Executive Secretary of the Colorado Cooperative Council!) -- But her most enduring/endearing qualities were her caring/giving nature and her insightful sense of humor. Rare was even the stranger stopping by, who escaped without sitting down for lunch -- or at least cookies and ice cream! She realized how unusual it was to live so long and often remarked that there was no one left with whom to share early memories. But that didn’t stop her interest in life and she didn’t care that her friends were younger or unusual. In her fair mind, everyone deserved a bit of laughter and a cookie.

Elna is survived by Three Daughters, Janet Kelso, Mary Scott, and Susan Kirch; generations of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
