A memorial service for Billy E. Murphy of Aurora Colorado will be held at 10:00 am on Friday May 7, 2021 at Newcomer Funeral Home at 190 Potomac St. Aurora, Co. 80011. Shawn D. Ohlms, Executive Pastor of Northroad Community Church, Moscow Mills, Mo., will officiate. There will be a Military ceremony at Ft. Logan Cemetery following the service at Newcomer for immediate family (COVID Protocol). Following Ft. Logan there will be a Masonic ceremony at Highlands Masonic Lodge at 3550 Federal Blvd. Denver, Co. 80211 and celebration of life for family and friends from 1pm to 3pm.

Billy, 91, passed away at his home in Aurora, Co. on May 14, 2020. Born August 15, 1928 to John W. and Martha H. Murphy. He was united in marriage on November 16, 1952 in Haxtun, Co. to Dorothy Drought. From this union three children were born, Pamela Ayn, Noreen Gail and Patrick Neal. Billy was a member of the Masonic Fraternity for over 55 years and was a member of Highlands Masonic Lodge #86AFAM. He was a member of several bowling leagues and bowled until he was 90 for the Gateway to the Rockies and maintained an average of 180. He was a prolific reader especially anything related to history and specifically the Civil War, he enjoyed working crossword and sudoku puzzles. He was extremely competitive in everything he did.

He served 21 years in the United States Air Force where he was a Crew Chief and flew VIP diplomats. He was instrumental in educating the first graduating class of Air Force Academy cadets in navigational training missions at Lowery Air Force Base. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked 26 years for Emerson Electric, where he was an Industrial Engineer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Martha. His Stepmother Ethel L. (Dockery) Murphy. His sisters: Shirley Ann Murphy (Theiring), Ella Belle Kiefer, Alva Sue Murphy (Whitehouse), Wanda Durbin. His brother Roy D Brown and nephew Marvin A. Theiring.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Dorothy, his children Pamela and her husband Michael, Noreen and her husband Steven, Patrick and his wife Carrie. He leaves 13 Grandchildren and 11 Great grandchildren. His brother Edward P. Murphy and his wife Yoko. Brother-in-Law Joe Whitehouse. Several nieces and nephews and many friends.
