Max was born October 17, 1932 in Mora, New Mexico to Maximo Branch Martinez and Felisitas A. Maes.

He was a graduate of St. Gertrude Parochial High School class of 1952. He also attended New Mexico Highlands University.

Max served 4 years as a member of the United States Army and is a Veteran of the Korean War. For most of Max’s working life he worked as a baker. Along with baking he was an amazing cook. He loved his dogs. He loved reading, history, and genealogy specifically the history of his home state of New Mexico and it’s Spanish roots.

Max was a loving husband, brother, father and grandfather he is survived by is wife Carol, Sons Max (Jeannette), Leandro, Troy Daughters, Gina (Dustin), Virginia, and Anna. Also survived by sister Ernestine Romero, brothers Wilferd, Debari, Charles, David, Jessie, and Seymore. Also a very special cousin who was more like a sister Rose Benavidez. He also leaves 7 grandchildren. Abel, Iris, Crystal, Sierra, Max, Nicolas, and Amanda. Along with 10 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Gloria Steele, brothers Alfonso, Jimmy, and first wife Sophie Serna.
