Edna Mae Schooley was born on March 6, 1926 to Frank and Alma (Ulbricht) Nelson in Henry, SD. Edna Mae became a child of God through Baptism on April 18, 1926 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Henry. She reaffirmed her baptismal vows at her Confirmation on August 10, 1941 also at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

On September 11, 1949 Edna Mae married Donald Schooley at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Henry. The Lord gave Edna Mae and Don 47 years of marriage before Don preceded her in death in 1996. The Lord blessed them with 4 children: Sandra, who preceded them in death, Kathryn (Steven Meister), Connie (Kenneth Frey) and Thomas. Additional blessing came with 6 grandchildren: Brian (Jennifer) Meister, Nathan Meister, Tara Meister, Luke (Tasha) Frey, Amy (Tom) Strackbein, Daniel Frey and 8 great-grandchildren: Amelia, Wyatt and Grant Meister, Madeline and Alexandra Frey and Eli, Caleb and Josiah Strackbein.

Edna Mae worked in Watertown, SD before her marriage to Don. She and Don moved their family to Aurora, CO in 1961. Edna Mae worked at Aurora National Bank for 25 years as a loan clerk. Edna Mae loved her church and church family at Christ Our Redeemer in Aurora. She served her church over the years including teaching Sunday School and was involved with the Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society. Supporting missions and sharing the gospel message were close to her heart.

Edna Mae came from a large and loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Alma Nelson, brothers Marvin, Lloyd, Frank and Richard, and sisters Elsie, Alice and Marjorie. Surviving sister is Sylvia (LaVern) Zamow. Other survivors include brothers-in-law Dick Schooley and Kenneth (Karen) Schooley, sisters-in-law Dorothy Schooley and Janice Schooley, and many nieces and nephews.

Her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ gave Edna Mae her Crown of Life on Tuesday, August 24, 2021.

Funeral Service will be held at Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Her mortal remains will be laid to rest with Don at Fort Logan National Cemetery in September. The family requests that face masks are worn.

The family asks that memorials be given to Christ Our Redeemer Church and School, 17700 E Iliff Avenue, Aurora, CO 80013.
