Marilyn June Schaefer, 87, of Arvada, passed away September 14, 2021. She was born June 22, 1934 in Campbell, Nebraska, the daughter of Joseph and Ruby (Bierhaus) Meyer. She moved to Colorado in 1945 with her parents who bought a hardware store in Golden. Marilyn attended Golden High School and was a member of the GHS Melodears, a select women's choir. In 1954, she married Harold Schaefer of Golden at St. James Lutheran Church. After Harold returned from military duty in Japan, they settled in Golden where Marilyn and Harold eventually became owners of her parent's store. Both of them continued working at Meyer Hardware until they retired.

Marilyn and Harold raised four children: Steven, James, Katherine, and Patricia. She and Harold looked forward to spending the winters in Arizona where they enjoyed golfing and their many friends. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Arvada, Colorado where she sang in the choir.
