Harry Joseph Larkins, 95, formerly of Lakewood, CO passed away Monday, September 13, 2021 in Aurora, CO.

Harry was the eldest son of Harry George and Rachael (Snider) Larkins. He was born April 24, 1926 on a farm near Ellis, Nebraska. He grew up in Nebraska with his two younger siblings, Ernest and Berdine.

Harry married the love of his life, Verna Friedemann on June 2, 1945. Verna passed away just days before their 74th wedding anniversary. They moved to Portland, Oregon after WWII, where they had their three children.

Harry was a proud patriot and WWII Navy veteran. He had 40 years of government service, mostly working for the Bureau of Land Management.

Harry spent over 6 decades learning and mastering different forms of martial arts. He started his warrior studies learning karate, followed by Judo (6th degree black belt) and Jujitsu (10th degree master). In the early 60’s, he taught women’s self-defense classes. His love for teaching and dedication to Jujitsu continued into his late 80’s.

Harry is survived by his sons Brad (Cindy) of Oregon and Bruce (Kathleen) of Strasburg, CO, son-in-law Dr. David Albright of Vermont and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Harry was preceded in death by his wife Verna, infant son Randolph, daughter Joann, his parents and siblings.
