Craig was instrumental in building the Bioengineering Department at the CU Anschutz campus where he carried out research, and he taught bioengineering courses at the CU Denver campus. His research centered around the development of new methods for cardiac care, and he received the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine Nightingale Prize for his research paper detailing a novel prosthetic heart valve.
Craig was passionate about teaching technology to students. He enjoyed bicycling and joined his father on the RAGBRAI bicycle ride across Iowa on several occasions. Craig’s artistic side included creating visual art, playing piano and saxophone, and cooking. He also enjoyed attending Bronco games and working on the 5.0 liter Mustang.
Craig is survived by his parents, his former wife Mary Patricia Kaluk, his brother and sister-in-law Miles and Meredith Lanning and their children Ainsley and Emery, and his brother and sister-in-law Adam and Jamie Lanning and their children Payton and Owen. He is also survived by several loving aunts, uncles, cousins and his adored Havanese canine companion Rosie.
