In Memory Of
Abie Carlos Romero
1937 - 2022
He married Ella Mae Symonds in 1955. Together they had four children, Theresa (Ray) Hernandez, Steve (Andy) Romero, Rose (Lorenzo) Garcia, and Angela (Joe) Luna. Abie and Ella Mae divorced in 1972.
In 1973 he married Jeannine Renee Parish who also had four children, James (Loretta) Aldridge, Dennis (Irene) Aldridge, Chris (Tanis) Aldridge, and Debora [Bruce] Moser.
Abie, and Jeannine were married and almost inseparable for 45 years before her passing in February 2018. Together they enjoyed Sunday drives to the mountains, many trips to France; Jeannine's home country, numerous trips to visit family in Albuquerque, NM and watching or attending Denver Nuggets basketball games, also in their earlier years; country music and dancing which is what originally brought them together. Abie and Jeannine shared 22 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren together.
Abie spent his career as a construction superintendent and even oversaw the construction of the home him and Jeannine shared for 47 years. He retired from Sema construction in 2000. After Jeannine's death he found enjoyment in volunteering at North Denver Food Bank up until COVID. He was truly kind and caring, and made many lasting friendships. He was the ultimate handyman of the family, and always offered to help or do the job entirely. Being of strong faith, he was a member of Crossroad's Church of Thornton CO. He enjoyed playing card games and dominos with grandchildren, working around his home and took pride in keeping his lawn and home pristine. He spent his last day visiting with family, playing cards and playing his harmonica.
Abie is preceded in death by his sister Suzie, brothers Faustino, Porfinio, Toby, son-in-law Ray, sister-in-law Jenny, brother-in-law Mike, step-sons Dennis and Chris, grandchildren PJ, Veronica, Roslynn, Matthew, and great grandson Paxton.
Abie is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
