She was born to the late Patrick and Margaret Heraty in Chicago, Illinois January 25, 1928. She was a graduate of St. Gregory's High School in 1945, Mundelein College of Chicago and Northeastern Illinois University, receiving a BA in English.
She married the late Timothy L. McCarthy in 1950. After his passing, she married Patrick Lindgren in 1973 where they lived in Arlington Heights until his passing in 2012.
Dolores is survived by her four children: Timothy (Cynthia) McCarthy, Minneapolis, MN, Nancy (Glen) Von Bergen, Walworth, WI, Jean (Mark) McFadyen, Scottsdale, AZ and James (Milissa) McCarthy of Aurora, CO and sister Patricia Caldwell, Barrington, IL as well as twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Dolores was a high school English teacher at John Hersey High School in Arlington Heights during and after raising her four children. She was well regarded as a witty and knowledgeable educator and enjoyed the company of fellow teachers many becoming lifetime friends.
Dolores was an avid reader and life student, especially enjoying her time with family as well as activities at Arlington Heights Senior Center, taking classes and field trips with good friends.
