In Memory Of
Barbara Louise Stringer-Larkin-Bivens
1940 - 2022

In loving memory of Barbara Louise Stringer-Larkin-Bivens who passed away September 13th, 2022 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Barbara was a pillar of love and kindness, that always put family first. A true heart of gold, Barbara persevered through many hardships in her life. Through loss and tribulation, she showed us love and grace and will be leaving behind a legacy of gentleness and faith to her grandchildren. She was born on January 7th 1940 in Saint Louis, Missouri to parents Ernest Stringer and Louise Waigand-Stringer. Ernest would go on to be a veteran of World War II.

At a young age Barbara’s family moved to Olney, IL where she grew up and fell in love with the preacher’s son. They were married in September of 1955 and had two beautiful children, Floyd Alfred Larkin III and Dawn Renee Larkin. In 1967 Barbara chose family over security and ventured west with her two young children to Colorado to be with their father. There she raised her children and would eventually start her own photograph retouching and airbrushing business where she would often work side by side with her daughter and her mother until she retired in 1997. Family was her life and she taught us all so much about making wise choices, planning for the future, serving others, and above all how to be kind and gracious in a world that is not. Barbara not only told us about the gifts of the Spirit but showed us the gifts of the Spirit in her everyday walk.

Galatians 5:22-23

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 [a]gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

Barbara is survived by her sister Bonnie Maxwell of Melbourne, Florida, her son in law Stanley Brown Sr. of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, grandchildren Stanley Brown Jr. of Highland Ranch, Colorado and Carah Hanley of Hot Springs, Arkansas, her great grandchildren Hailey Adams, Lindsey Adams, Penelope Brown, Richard Hanley, Dustin Hanley, and Micah Hanley, and her nephews Michael Maxwell of Cape Coral, Florida and Robert Maxwell of Louisville, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents and her two children Floyd Alfred Larkin III and Dawn Renee Larkin-Brown.

Barbara will be laid to rest at Dillion Cemetery in Dillion, Colorado where her mother and children are also buried.
